Mr. Murray's Shadow

year : 1945

I feel as though people may soon refer to me as Murray's shadow.
Carl Jung had told us that pursuing our desires would be the ultimate way to unlock our unconscious. I do, in a way, feel that Mr. Jung was correct. Recent publications make me question his motives though. It feels like everywhere I see...

It is hard to be in the shadows, especially when it is your thoughts that gave way to such fame.

This is not to say Henry had no part in the creation of the Thematic Apperception Test, but no longer want to be ignored. After all, without my sketches and without my mind there would be no Thematic Apperception Test.

Christiana Morgan met her husband, William Morgan, in 1917. Soon after they began dating, he was drafted into World War I. Upon his arrival, they were married. In 1920 she gave birth to their son, Thomas Morgan. During her time in the Art Students League (1921-1924) she met Henry Murray. They became very close but were hesitant about taking their relationship further. Murray and Morgan were analyzed in Switzerland by Carl Jung, and it was Jung that urged them to have an affair as a way to "unlock their unconscious." Both still remained married to their spouses but the two remained together until Christiana took her life. Christiana Morgan and Henry Murray co-created the Thematic Apperception Test, however many publications often leave her name out. For example, our textbook Meyers' Psychology for the AP Course cites Henry Murray as the creator of the Thematic Apperception Test despite the crucial role Christiana Morgan played in the creation of the test. Many critics, such as Claire Douglas, believe it was her relationship with Murray, along with many other men, that led to her downfall.
